Why We Grow Our Own

Rooted in Growth & Gratitude

There’s something incredibly grounding about planting a seed and watching it grow. It’s a rhythm of life that reminds me daily of simplicity, patience, and abundance.

Being as self-sufficient as possible is something I deeply value — not just for me and my boys, but for the way we live, eat, and share. Our fruits and vegetables are grown with intention, care, and a deep respect for nature’s pace.

Slow Farming, Seasonal Eating

At the heart of our farm is a belief in slow, seasonal farming—letting nature set the pace. We grow according to the rhythms of the land, planting and harvesting only when the soil and seasons are ready. This mindful approach results in produce that’s not only more flavourful, but also more nutritious and sustainable.

Our gardens are completely chemical-free, nourished with rich compost and naturally enhanced by our chickens’ foraging and our bees’ pollination. Every crop is hand-planted, hand-picked, and lovingly tended.

Our farm produces a variety of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables—all grown with care and without chemicals. Availability changes with the seasons, ensuring every harvest is sun-ripened, nutrient-rich, and bursting with flavour.

Seasonal Fruit Trees
We grow a variety of citrus including oranges, lemons, and naartjies, along with stone fruits like peaches and apricots. Depending on the time of year, you may also find figs, apples, and pears—picked only when naturally ripe.

Fresh Vegetables (All Year Round)
Our vegetable beds are full of diversity, including leafy greens like spinach and kale, root vegetables such as carrots and beetroot, and legumes like beans and peas. You’ll also find gourds and melons—including pumpkins and watermelons—as well as favourites like maize, sweetcorn, and tomatoes.

All our produce is grown in living soil, tended by hand, and harvested with purpose. That’s the flavour of food grown the natural way.

01

Organic fruits and vegetables are grown without harmful chemicals, artificial pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. This means fewer toxins on your food and a lower chemical load on your body—especially important for children and those with sensitivities.

Studies show that organic produce often contains higher levels of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Plus, without chemical interference, the natural sugars and flavours shine through—resulting in food that tastes as good as it looks.

Organic farming supports healthy soil through composting, crop rotation, and natural fertilisers. This regenerative approach protects biodiversity, conserves water, and reduces pollution—helping the earth thrive with every harvest.

When you choose organic, you’re often supporting small-scale farmers who care deeply about animal welfare, sustainable land use, and fair labour. It’s a choice that values people, animals, and the planet—not just profit.
